Most Gold Coast housing went up between the 1970s and the 1990s, which means clay and earthenware sewer sitting under forty years of established garden. That is exactly the age where roots stop being a nuisance and start being the reason the drain blocks every winter.
The other thing about this coast is what sits on top of the pipe. Canal front landscaping, pool surrounds, stamped concrete driveways and paving that cost more than the plumbing did. Digging a trench through that is often the most expensive part of the job by a long way.

Relining is not always the answer, and anyone who says it is has not looked at the pipe. Here is what decides it.
A collapsed or deformed section can often be cut back from the inside with a robotic cutter to reopen the bore, and then lined. The camera tells us whether yours can be.
This is usually the real question. A trench through lawn is cheap. A trench through a stamped concrete driveway, a pool surround or established landscaping costs more than the plumbing does.

Long straight runs are ideal. A lot of sharp bends can make a liner impractical, and we will say so rather than trying it and failing.

Nobody can give you a straight per metre rate over the phone, and one offered without a camera inspection behind it is a guess dressed up as a quote. What moves the number is how long the damaged section runs, whether we reach it through an existing opening or have to make one, the bends and junctions the liner travels through, and the size of the pipe.
