Robina is one of the Gold Coast's original master-planned suburbs - development started around 1985, Bond University opened in 1989, and Robina Town Centre and the surrounding residential estates were largely built out through the 1990s and into the early 2000s. Because it went in as a planned development rather than growing suburb by suburb over decades, the plumbing across most of Robina is genuinely more consistent than in older parts of the Gold Coast. There isn't the same patchwork of different eras and pipe materials you'd find somewhere like Southport or Nerang.
What that means now is timing, not chaos. A house built in the early-to-mid 1990s is 30-plus years old, and that's roughly when original sewer pipe - particularly earthenware and early PVC with rubber-ring joints - starts to show its age. The estates around the Robina Woods, Glades and Colonial golf courses, and the established streets near the lakes, were mostly built in that window, and the gardens planted with them have had three decades to put root systems where the joints are. Newer pockets further out are less exposed to this, but even a well-built line can develop a fault at a joint or a bend over time, so a camera inspection tells us more than the age of the house ever will.

We run a camera through the line before we talk about lining at all. It shows exactly where the damage is, how long the affected section runs, and whether the pipe is a candidate for relining or needs a different approach.

A resin liner is installed through an existing access point - no trench through the front lawn, the pool surrounds or the paving above it. It's inflated and cured in place, forming a continuous new pipe inside the old one, with no joints left for roots to find.

Pipe relining is priced by the length of pipe, the diameter, how many joints and bends are involved, and how the access sits - a straight run under open lawn is a different job to one running under a driveway, pool surrounds or established garden beds. You get an upfront, fixed price after the camera inspection, before any work starts, and there's no call-out fee for us to come and have a look. It generally costs more than a straight dig-and-replace on an open block, and considerably less once you account for reinstating a driveway, pool surrounds or mature landscaping after a trench dig. The liner itself is rated for around fifty years, so once it's in and cured, it isn't something you'll be revisiting any time soon.

For most Robina properties where the pipe runs under a driveway, pool surrounds or a golf course-fronting garden, yes. Relining avoids the cost of digging up and reinstating those surfaces, and the liner itself is a single continuous sleeve with no joints left for roots to find, so it holds up well against the same problem coming back.
There's no flat per-metre figure we can give without seeing the pipe. Cost depends on the diameter, the length and number of joints involved, how difficult the section is to access, and what's sitting above it. It's a reasonable indicator but not the deciding factor. Homes from Robina's main 1990s-early 2000s build-out are at the age where original joints commonly start to fail, but we still run the camera on every job - some pipe from that era is holding up fine, and some newer pipe has developed a fault. The camera tells us, not the calendar.

Had an issue with our 16 year old toilet leaking from underneath the pan somewhere. Called Blake & he sent Lachlan out the following morning to diagnose & quote. Lachlan gave us 3 options, which was great. We chose the middle one, which included replacing all the internals, so hopefully we should be OK for another 16 years! Both Blake & Lachlan were great to deal with & Lachlan did a great job - definitely better than the original installation, which looked a bit dodgy! Happy to recommend.

Absolutely amazing service from the moment I got in touch with them, and in particular Blake. I explained to him my issue and he took the time and effort (completely unprompted) in providing steps of how he would tackle the problem. When it came time to actually have the issue physically looked at, Lachie gave me a call and let me know how far away he was; he arrived promptly and on-time, and was able to very quickly diagnose and provide a solution. I was quoted on the spot and not pressured whatsoever to have more things looked at than I needed to, which I very much appreciated. While I've got my fingers crossed to not have any further short-term issues with my property's plumbing, I'd wholeheartedly recommend these guys and gals to anyone willing to listen. I'm sure there are many other great plumbing businesses around the Gold Coast, but for my money I'd much rather support a local family-owned business providing a very honest and transparent service, who also aren't looking to bleed your wallet dry.
Very happy with the service from Genies Plumbing. We had a leaking kitchen tap and Blake was out in a couple of hours. He sourced a new one, came back later in the day and fitted it. He advised his arrival times very efficiently and was friendly and polite. Would certainly recommend him and call on him again when necessary.

I called Blake to help locate a tricky water leak on our acreage property, he quickly identified multiple leaks on both the council and our side of the line and got them all fixed. He kept us informed every step of the way, and was incredibly responsive and professional, and a genuinely nice person.
