Robina went in as a master-planned community from the mid-1980s, with Robina Town Centre and most of the surrounding residential estates built out through the 1990s. Because it was developed in a fairly tight window rather than growing over many decades, the plumbing across the suburb is more uniform than in older Gold Coast areas - but that also means a large share of Robina's housing stock is hitting the same age bracket at roughly the same time. Homes from that original build-out are now 25 to 35 years old, which is exactly when original hot water lines, tapware and pipe joints start to fail quietly rather than dramatically.
Add to that the number of larger blocks backing onto the Robina Woods, Glades and Colonial golf courses, plus the properties around the lakes with established gardens and irrigation systems, and there's more length of buried pipe per property than in a typical inner suburb - more pool lines, more irrigation runs, more joints in the ground for a slow leak to develop at. None of that means something was done wrong. It's just what happens as a consistent-age suburb reaches this stage of its life.

A water bill that's gone up with no change in usage, a meter that keeps moving with everything off, a damp or unusually warm patch on the floor, a musty smell in one part of the house, or a soft or lifting patch in the flooring. In Robina we also see it show up as an unexplained drop in pool level or a lawn that's greener in one patch than the rest, which often points to an irrigation or pool line leak rather than the house.
Not to find it. We use acoustic gear, thermal imaging and pressure testing to narrow the leak down to a specific section before anyone breaks ground. Digging only comes into it once we know exactly where the leak is and what the repair involves.
Larger blocks and the extra irrigation and pool infrastructure common on golf course-fronting properties mean there's more buried pipe to check, so we typically test the house plumbing, pool line and irrigation system separately to rule each one in or out.

Had an issue with our 16 year old toilet leaking from underneath the pan somewhere. Called Blake & he sent Lachlan out the following morning to diagnose & quote. Lachlan gave us 3 options, which was great. We chose the middle one, which included replacing all the internals, so hopefully we should be OK for another 16 years! Both Blake & Lachlan were great to deal with & Lachlan did a great job - definitely better than the original installation, which looked a bit dodgy! Happy to recommend.

Absolutely amazing service from the moment I got in touch with them, and in particular Blake. I explained to him my issue and he took the time and effort (completely unprompted) in providing steps of how he would tackle the problem. When it came time to actually have the issue physically looked at, Lachie gave me a call and let me know how far away he was; he arrived promptly and on-time, and was able to very quickly diagnose and provide a solution. I was quoted on the spot and not pressured whatsoever to have more things looked at than I needed to, which I very much appreciated. While I've got my fingers crossed to not have any further short-term issues with my property's plumbing, I'd wholeheartedly recommend these guys and gals to anyone willing to listen. I'm sure there are many other great plumbing businesses around the Gold Coast, but for my money I'd much rather support a local family-owned business providing a very honest and transparent service, who also aren't looking to bleed your wallet dry.
Very happy with the service from Genies Plumbing. We had a leaking kitchen tap and Blake was out in a couple of hours. He sourced a new one, came back later in the day and fitted it. He advised his arrival times very efficiently and was friendly and polite. Would certainly recommend him and call on him again when necessary.

Blake and Lachlan assisted us with a very complex realignment. They were brilliant. I called Blake to help locate a tricky water leak on our acreage property, he quickly identified multiple leaks on both the council and our side of the line and got them all fixed. He kept us informed every step of the way, and was incredibly responsive and professional, and a genuinely nice person. He's also helping put together a storm water system to help manage the water drainage away from the house during storms. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending Blake for any plumbing job, big or small.
