Matt came to our home was a delight to work with. Excellent workmanship and very courteous. Went above and beyond to assist. He provided us with quotes for various plumbing items, he quickly provided a detailed quote, explained options. He was excellent at commencing work in one area, and double checked water pressure in our area, hot water system and the plumbing items I had purchased. A great tradesman. Thoroughly recommend. Thankyou Matt.

What we fix
- Mains under pressure that have simply let go
- Old galvanised that has corroded through from the inside
- Copper thinning and weeping at a bend
- Lines split by a shovel or a post hole
- Hidden bursts under a slab or inside a wall
Why this happens
A burst pipe is one of the few plumbing problems that gets more expensive by the minute. Water does not stop while you find a plumber, and most of the cost ends up being the damage rather than the pipe.
Before you ring anyone, turn the water off at the main. It is at the meter near the front boundary, and it is a tap or a lever. If you do not know where yours is, go and find it now while nothing is wrong.
Pipes burst for a handful of reasons. Old galvanised and early copper reaching the end of its life. Ground movement in clay soil putting stress on a rigid line. Corrosion, which happens far faster near the water. And the occasional shovel through a line nobody knew was there.
Not every burst announces itself. A pipe under a slab or in a wall can run for weeks, showing up only as a bill that has climbed and a floor that feels warm in one spot.

What actually happens on the job
Get the water off
First thing, before anything else. If you have not already, we do it on arrival.
Find it precisely
Visible bursts are quick. Hidden ones need acoustic and pressure testing so the repair is a small opening rather than a trench or a wall coming down.
Repair it
Most repairs are done on the same visit. If a longer section has gone, we tell you what that involves and what it costs before starting.
Check the rest
If a pipe let go because the material is at the end of its life, the rest of that run is on the same clock. Better to know now.
What it costs
95 leak and burst jobs completed and counted, out of 1,060 jobs all up.
No call-out fee, the price agreed before anyone starts, and it does not move once you have said yes. We can usually get to you today.
Quoted on the spot before any work starts, burst or not.
A single repair on an accessible pipe is straightforward. Under a slab, in a wall or under a driveway costs more, and we tell you which before we start.
$0 call-out and free quotes.

Burst pipe or a slow leak? How to tell, and what to do first
The first few minutes matter more than anything a plumber does later. Here is how to work out what you have and what to do about it.
- 1Water pressure has dropped across the whole house
Something upstream has failed. Turn the water off at the meter and check whether the meter dial is still turning.
- 2You can hear running water with every tap off
There is a break somewhere in the pressurised line. Turn the water off at the meter now. This does not settle down on its own.
- 3A wet patch on a wall or ceiling that is spreading
Water travels along framing before it shows, so the wet patch is rarely above the break. Turn the water off and do not put a hole in the wall looking for it.
- 4Pressure was fine, then got worse over a year or two
Not a burst. That is old galvanised pipe narrowing from the inside as it rusts. It is a planned job rather than an emergency, and it is cheaper done in one go than in four separate call outs.
- 5Water near anything electrical
Stop. Turn the power off at the switchboard before you go near it, and tell us when you ring so we know what we are walking into.
If you take one thing from this: know where your water meter is and how to turn it off, before you need to. It is the difference between a wet floor and a wet house.
Burst & Leaking Pipes, in plain terms
Turning the water off, properly
The main tap is at the water meter, usually near the front boundary, and it is either a tap or a lever. Clockwise shuts it. That one action stops most of the cost of a burst, because the damage is nearly always worth more than the pipe.
Go and find yours now while nothing is wrong. Standing in the dark in the rain trying to work out which lid it is under is not the moment to learn.
Why it went, not just where
A patch on a pipe that failed because somebody put a shovel through it is the end of the job. A patch on a pipe that failed because the material has reached the end of its life is the start of one.
So we look at what the pipe is and how it failed. If galvanised has corroded through in one spot, the rest of that run is on the same clock, and you are better off hearing that now than the next time it lets go.
What the repair actually involves
Visible bursts are quick. A section comes out, new pipe goes in, the water goes back on and you are done in a visit.
Hidden ones take longer because finding them properly is what keeps the hole small. Acoustic and pressure testing first, then a small opening over the spot, rather than a trench across the yard or a wall coming down.
Not sure if it is a burst & leaking pipes job?
That is fine. Most people ring us with symptoms, not answers. We will help you work out what needs doing and what can wait.
A quick call helps more than perfect wording
You do not need to know whether to call it burst & leaking pipes or something else. Tell us what you can see, what has changed, and whether the problem is getting worse. From there we can send the right gear instead of making you diagnose it.
We slow down when the choice matters
Some burst & leaking pipes work has more than one sensible fix. If a smaller repair will get you through, we will say so. If it is likely to fail again soon, we will say that too, then let you choose what suits the house and the budget.
Small details help us arrive prepared
For burst & leaking pipes, photos can save time: the label, the leak, the access point, or the place where water is showing. We still confirm it on site, but the extra context helps us bring what the job is likely to need.

Had an issue with our 16 year old toilet leaking from underneath the pan somewhere. Called Blake & he sent Lachlan out the following morning to diagnose & quote. Lachlan gave us 3 options, which was great. We chose the middle one, which included replacing all the internals, so hopefully we should be OK for another 16 years! Both Blake & Lachlan were great to deal with & Lachlan did a great job - definitely better than the original installation, which looked a bit dodgy! Happy to recommend.
fantastic plumbing experience GENIES Plumbing installed a new shower for me. Sensational job done. THEY WERE FRIENDLY, DILIGENT, answered all questions, cleaned up, Very happy with the finished product. Thank you GENIES plumbing!
This is the type of plumbing service that everybody wants. They quote before they do the job. They turn up when they say they will. And they're very good at what they do. Good Service - Fair Price - not something you normally say about Plumbers these days. Keep up the great work Blake, Lachie and Raif.
Amazing service. Highly recommend Lachlan and Genies Plumbing. Thank you for taking time out of your Saturday to put in my new hot water system. Truly a work of art!
Absolutely amazing service from the moment I got in touch with them, and in particular Blake. I explained to him my issue and he took the time and effort (completely unprompted) in providing steps of how he would tackle the problem. When it came time to actually have the issue physically looked at, Lachie gave me a call and let me know how far away he was; he arrived promptly and on-time, and was able to very quickly diagnose and provide a solution. I was quoted on the spot and not pressured whatsoever to have more things looked at than I needed to, which I very much appreciated. While I've got my fingers crossed to not have any further short-term issues with my property's plumbing, I'd wholeheartedly recommend these guys and gals to anyone willing to listen. I'm sure there are many other great plumbing businesses around the Gold Coast, but for my money I'd much rather support a local family-owned business providing a very honest and transparent service, who also aren't looking to bleed your wallet dry.
Very happy with the service from Genies Plumbing. We had a leaking kitchen tap and Blake was out in a couple of hours. He sourced a new one, came back later in the day and fitted it. He advised his arrival times very efficiently and was friendly and polite. Would certainly recommend him and call on him again when necessary.
Matty was honest, genuine, and professional from start to finish. It’s not always easy to find a plumber you can trust, but Matty was upfront, reliable, and took the time to explain everything clearly. A great company with fantastic service. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy plumber. I wish them every bit of success in the future - they truly deserve it!
Genie plumbing was magic !! Locky was here on time and knew his trade !! We are doing a renovation in the bathroom and he was great! He is coming back today to install the hot n cold pipes, then the fit out next. The drainage was installed first trip. Nothing was a problem for Lochy ! I live in a unit complex and had to get my hot water system replaced as it was old and also to meet the current standards and regulations. I contacted the boys at Genies Plumbing. To say I was happy with their service is an understatement. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. They were prompt professional and very neat and tidy and took the time to show me how everything worked and answer all my questions. Thanks Blake and Lachlan for a great job.
Really Impressed !!! Blake and Genies Plumbing did an amazing job and a great price. They listened to what I needed and made it work. They were available really quickly to do the job and I’m really happy with the result.... Already got a couple more jobs for them to do...Well Done Genies Plumbing
Lachlan from Genies Plumbing arrived on time and thoroughly looked over the job before providing us with a quote which he fully explained. He then cracked on with the work and did an amazing job! He was super easy to deal with and had our bathroom fitted off and functioning within a couple of hours. Very pleased we used Genies Plumbing and would recommend them.
Genies Plumbing team was very friendly and explained the different options we could choose from. They were able to do the job the next day! Would recommend and will be having them again for any plumbing needs.
I had a blocked kitchen sink and was quite concerned about the potential for damage and inconvenience. I called Genies Plumbing and once again received outstanding service from Blake. He was prompt, professional, and explained everything clearly. This isn’t the first time I’ve called on Blake, and every time he delivers reliable, high-quality work with genuine care. I really appreciate his consistency, attention to detail, and friendly approach. Highly recommend Genies Plumbing — especially Blake — for exceptional service you can trust!
Blake and Lachlan assisted us with a very complex realignment. They were brilliant. They took the time to explain everything, kept me updated with any issues that arose, kept on time and impressively on budget. They could not have worked harder to resolve our issues. I was so worried that we would need to crack our slab and have to retile the majority of our house. These boys made a plan and stuck to it. Fabulous outcome!!
Great service, friendly, reliable and professional. Thanks to Blake and Lachy, we had a water main leak detected and repaired in no time. They went above and beyond to make sure we had rectified the issue quickly. Highly recommended and will be using Genies for all of our plumbing needs in the future
Blake and Lachlan from Genies Plumbing were really helpful when installing a new hot water heater in my home. It was a quick process with excellent workmanship and very reasonable cost. They were both lovely to deal with and communicated with me at all times. I am so glad Genies Plumbing was recommended to me by my electrician. Will definitely call on them again. Trish
From the moment we made the call with our list of to do's - to the moment the boys came and left after the job completion- the entire help was incredible, and the workmanship was thorough and detailed and reasonable". This workmanship advise is Beyond MOST service and help we have experienced over the last few years. Thank you boys! This type of experience is often not the most favourite one for many people, but in this case, what a great time to get everything sorted with an ease of mind and honesty personified. 2 showers 1 bath 1 laundry 1 bathroom sink Thanks again team - we'll see you again. You'll be our first point of call . A++++
I called Blake to help locate a tricky water leak on our acreage property, he quickly identified multiple leaks on both the council and our side of the line and got them all fixed. He kept us informed every step of the way, and was incredibly responsive and professional, and a genuinely nice person. He's also helping put together a storm water system to help manage the water drainage away from the house during storms. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending Blake for any plumbing job, big or small.
Had some plumbing work done by Blake from Genies Plumbing — removal of an old water meter and repair/replacement of some leaking pipework. Communication was great from start to finish, he was prompt, friendly, well priced, and made sure everything was cleaned up afterwards. Really happy with the work. Would definitely recommend and use again.
Questions we get asked
Where is my water main?
At the water meter, usually near the front boundary. A tap or a lever, turned clockwise. Worth finding today rather than during a burst.
Can you fix it the same day?
Most accessible bursts, yes. Ring rather than fill in the form so we can give you a real time.
How do I know if I have a hidden burst?
Turn every tap and toilet off, then watch the water meter. If it is still moving, water is escaping somewhere.
Will you have to dig up the yard?
Only once we know exactly where it is, and then only over that spot. Locating properly is what keeps the hole small.
